    Introduction to Contemporary Operating Systems and Hardware 1A - ITM 701

    In this introductory industry-focused undergraduate course, students study the basics of computer architecture and learn to use a contemporary operating system. Hardware requirements and hardware components are covered. Topics also include discussion of current and future technology industry trends.

    Introduction to Contemporary Operating Systems and Hardware 1B - ITM 702

    In this introductory industry-focused undergraduate course, students study software compatibility and system installation, along with concepts of client virtualization, cloud computing, and network fundamentals. This course recommends the prerequisite of ITM 701.

    Introduction to Contemporary Operating Systems and Hardware 1C - ITM 703

    In this introductory industry-focused undergraduate course, students study system installation topics along with post-installation, security and system diagnosis, and repair. Topics also include discussion of current and future technology industry trends. This course recommends the prerequisite of ITM 702.

    • Approved industry certificates can be found at the BIT program website. 
    • Credit Approval Limit:  
    • A maximum of 18 credits can be applied to the degree; however, only 9 of these credits can count toward the total transfer credits required to obtain the BIT. 
    • Up to 9 credits can be applied to the major curriculum while up to another 9 credits can apply to the core curriculum, which is required to be completed through transfer credit. 
    • 1 certificate is equivalent to 3 credits. Multiple certificates can be submitted until the maximum is reached.
